Since its establishment in 1991, the Program gives scholarship to students from the Bank's borrowing member countries to pursue Master degree's studies atthe most prestigious universitiesaround the world in disciplines related to economic development. Since the beginning of the Program, more than 620 scholarships have been granted to women and men from Latin America and the Caribbean who have now returned to their countries of origin. The selection process is highly competitive since we receive more applications than the number of scholarships that we are able to grant. These scholarships, financed by the generous contribution of the Japanese Government, seek to train people who have experience in the public sector and/or academia and intend to return to their countries to work in the same area.
